The Quest for the Perfect Christmas Tree...
Our story begins in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains...
Ashe County, North Carolina to be exact...
Lee's Choose and Cut Christmas Tree Farm to be even more exact!
Mom and Livie are the two main characters of this short story...
The quest for the perfect Christmas Tree!
I am simply a by-stander... capturing their adventure
on film and telling it like I saw it.
The main cash crop of Ashe County is Christmas Trees. There must be hundreds of Choose and Cut farms throughout the county.
They range in size from small individually owned and operated farms to huge commercial ones cutting trees and sending them all over the country. In fact, the Christmas tree in the White House came from Ashe County this year.
Lee's Choose and Cut is one of the small family operated farms. Small I thought until I followed the stars of this story all over two mountainsides.
The quest officially began around 4:00 PM
on a cold November Saturday.
These two were bound and determined to find the prefect tree...
I could tell right away that a Charlie Brown tree would not do!
The girls went down this lane... up that one...
Over the meadow and through the woods...
After a solid hour of hunting the perfect tree...
I thought I heard Mom say... "There it is"...
my legs were really hoping this was the one...
afterall... I had heard that statement ten times already!
They found it! The perfect tree! A 9 foot Fraiser Fir!
And tagged it so no one else could claim it.
Mission accomplished... or so I thought...
Mom began the long trek back to find someone to cut it for us
while Livie and I guarded our prize tree!
Mom was gone for some time...
when all of a sudden we heard something...
Mom motoring in on a four-wheeler!
She introduced us to Jason... the tree-getter guy!
We headed back to Mr Lee's barn...
The girls couldn't help but smile...
they had found the perfect tree!
Mr Lee trimmed it so it would fit in our house...
They even wrapped it so it would fit in our CRV!
Livie held the door open while the nice men loaded our tree in the CRV for it's long journey back to Jacksonville, NC.
Livie and I posed with Jason and Mr Lee for a picture
before heading home. We even had some hot apple cider
and cookies before we left.
What a GREAT adventure we had...
but our quest for the perfect Christmas Tree
was not quite complete...
until we got home...
decorated our tree...
had our whole family pose by it for a photo...
to share with YOU!
Now we have the PERFECT Christmas Tree!
